Seeing The Sun Through Vapour

This morning Laura looked out the window and saw that the sun was lighting up the trees in a lovely way.

I thought that I should take the camera outside and have a look around.

I went for a short walk, and took 74 photographs, but don't be alarmed, I won't show you all of them!

There was a thin mist still touching the ground with a few fingers of one hand, and the sky above was painted pale cobalt blue amongst a scattering of puffy white clouds.

The sun rising through the mist reminded me very much of paintings by the artist J. M. W. Turner.

I think Turner would have enjoyed the light this morning.

I certainly did!

Light transformed what was ordinary, and made it sublime.

Light in the morning is mysterious and beautiful. That last photo with the gold sky is other worldly.
What a beautiful morning. These photos are gorgeous. Your mention of Turner is perfect. The world is such a beautiful place. All one has to do is step outside and really open their eyes, as you have done and shared with us. Thank you so much. It fills my slightly gloomy morning with light.

I hope that you are walking around means you are feeling a bit better.
Turner is one of my very favorite painters.
Love that last picture particularly.

Hi Christine, Suzi, Teresa, Michèle, Angie, Jill, Linda, and Patti, it is good to hear from you all, thank you so much for writing in, and I enjoy seeing your friendly smiling faces on the little thumbnail photograph that comes up with your comment, those of you that use such things! I'd never really given much thought to the little photos that we share with out name, but they do make the blogging thing more personal and encouraging.

Christine, lovely to hear from you on this, and the previous post, it was good of you to suggest some books for me, and it will be a pleasure for me to read an author that I haven't come across before.

Teresa, sorry your morning was "slightly gloomy", and I hope all is better now. Glad that the photos brought some light. I was very fortunate to see a huge exhibition of Turner's paintings in London back in 1975 when there was a show to mark Turner's bicentenary. I can still "see" some of them, and have little fragments of the actual exhibition floating around in my memory, crowds and all!

Angie, four horse men... seeing as the Lord of the Rings was filmed in NZ, I should expect to see a few terrified hobbits as well!!

Patti, I have improved a lot over the last few days, and can walk fairly easily now. Sitting down is still a problem for me, but I can manage it for a short time and it is a joy to be able to sit down for breakfast, and for playing my ukulele!! How wonderful that you have enjoyed Turner too.

Hi Sue,
Lovely to hear from you. Another misty morning today, and I was tempted to get out and take more photos, didn't quite get there as I had a job to do, but it is a lovely time of the year, and the winter sky is a real feast for the eyes!

Hi Amy,
Lovely to hear from you, thank you for your kind comment on the earlier post. Glad to report that the improvement in my back is continuing. I'll try a little potting again soon, but am keeping with paper work at the moment.
The business book keeping has never been so up to date before!!!
