Happy Christmas Everyone!

Laura took this photo a few days ago of the flowers that she has planted around this place, and I thought that I would spread a bit of Christmas Cheer and some summer warmth by putting it on the blog today!

Laura's little hands seem to have been at work everywhere outside.

If I take the time to open my eyes, and to be still....

.. and try not to get grumpy if I have to bend under low branches and struggle past big thorny things...

I find treasure and delight all around...

We won't be having snow this Christmas..., but these flowers are like little snow flakes!

.. and this flower looks like a cake with yummy pink icing....!

Happy Christmas Everyone!  Special hugs and greetings to family and friends in distant lands!

the flowers are pretty-especially the 'snowflake' flowers, like white "Ragged Robins"

A bit of colour to keep us going!

What a beautiful garden you have there, and Laura has such a green thumb and multicolored painting fingers too. Ha. Oh those roses, what is that first one, it looks old world. Happy Christmas to you, Laura and your family and feline friends.

Happy Christmas to you and Laura as well. Thanks for the flowers, there are very few of those around here right now! NIce to see a touch of spring with the bleak rain and cold we are having! (not so cold at this moment though)
snow is overrated (even at Christmas) i will take the flowers any day. thank you for sharing with us and a merry Christmas to you both.

Dear All,
Thank you for your comments, and Happy Christmas to you too! Glad that the flowers can spread some colour and the promise of summers to come to those of you who are currently in the middle of winter xx.

Patti, we're looking forward to those hugs, bless you and we'll send some in your direction too!

Welcome to my site, Cat, good to hear from you.

Who knows, with jumps in technology in decades to come, we might be able to send real sunshine northwards along with the pictures!

Those flowers brought a ray of sunshine into the bleek vista that is Fife at the moment. I dont think we will have snow but it is dark wet and dismal.
I still have the chesty cough and discusting mucous lol but the balance seems to have sorted its self. Doc thinks there is some thing going on with my heart but not sure what ....the ECG showed up an anomoly and they are sending it to a consultant ... ...just unusal .... they are confident that it is nothing major !!!! but to finish off the happy news they have found that I am diabetic and may have been for a while (I missed a couple of checkups for which I was scolded.) ....great when the house is full of goodies. To be honest i am ignoring it in the main til after Xmas ....if I have had it for a while ,whats another few days.
Thanks for letting me enjoy your life and times from the other side of the world ...Happy Christmas to you all xxxxxx

Lovely Christmas snowflake flowers. Best of wishes to you both at Christmas. I hope that next year brings new ears (to travel) and exciting pots and glazes to come.

Hello Angie,
Just caught your comment coming in, you must be glued to the glowing screen at the same time as me! Glad to send you a ray of sunshine, as I know you are having a tough time up there with your health. Chest infections are never fun (I used to have them annually when I was in the UK), and you have all those other things on top of that now. We do hope that you are able to keep warm and have family and friends looking in on you. Big Hugs, P & L xx

Hi Christine,
You're at the glowing screen too! I'd love it if we finally manage to get to your side of the world this coming year... The ears are improving!! Happy Chrismas to you all P & L xx

...and you left the Best Flower 'til last; She's lovely, and wonderful!

Happy Christmas!

Beautiful! I am suffering flower envy. At least my indoor petunias are starting to bloom. It's been so warm (mid 50's today) the fish are still out swimming in the pond.

Welcome Yule!

Hi Smartcat,
Good for the petunias! I'm glad that they are trying to bring you flowers at Christmas. Being calibrated as I am in centigrade, I would agree that mid 50s is very warm (those poor fish will be cooking!!). I guess that you'd be at about 12 Centigrade, which is quite nice, and only about 2 degrees lower than what we had on some rather un-summery summer days recently! Much hotter today though.

And a Happy Christmas to you and yours, also, Peter, from Pat, Squeak, Missy and Sweetie Pie in a very chilly Arkansas.

It's after 9 a.m. as I write this; the temperature has finally risen to the freezing point! Ah, New Zealand at Christmas!

Those are GORGEOUS flowers.

Your header photo is wonderful. I've been away too long; you've probably had it up for ages.

Happy Christmas to you Peter and to Laura, wonderful Christmas garden!!!
No snow here too, I was busy making the Yule log, this afternoon.
Best wishes to all

Happy Christmas Pat and Armelle, lovely to hear from you both. It is Christmas Day here, and the sun is shining and it will be hot later on. Both cats have enjoyed a leisurely start to the day and have played with our Christmas stockings! Laura had two Christmas stockings today, I made her one, and she had already made one for herself, just in case "Santa" had forgotten to make one for her. (Christmas stocking??? We put all sorts of silly things in an old sock, and put it on the end of the bed. There might be little gifts wrapped up, nuts, an orange, a potato, a little bit of chocolate... what ever Santa can find!). Definitely no snow here today!!
Happy Christmas! P, L, NS & G xx

I thought about both of you this afternoon as I came across a Public Television Service documentary on New Zealand. Most interesting to me was the segment filmed on the South Island, especially the beautiful trail that, I believe, is called the Milford Trek. You live in an amazingly beautiful country. Were I fifty years younger (at least), I might try to make a go of walking that one.

Best wishes to all under your roof for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Hello Pat,
How lovely to hear from you. It is really nice that you were able to catch a glimpse of New Zealand all the way from Arkansas! When I was a painter, most of my landscapes were painted at the side of the road; there was no shortage of beautiful things to paint. Certainly it would be splendid to have enough strength and stamina to do one of the really big walks, but there is still a feast of good things for those of us who can't get that far.
Kind thoughts to you too, and I hope that you soon see the first signs of Spring in the garden.
Happy New Year!

Hi Amy, Happy New Year, and lovely to hear from you. Glad you liked the flowers, I thought they would be cheery for people in the parts of the world where there is winter right now!
